About us

(N) Ladejarlen is a small cattery located in Trondheim. We are an adult couple, Christine and Bjarne, we also have a grown-up daughter, Cecilie.
I have grown up with cats and a dog, and have been owned by cats for more than 30 years now. The first 15 years we had housecats, but I fell in love with the Maine Coon breed after visiting a cat show in 2006. I just had to have a Maine Coon! A few months later S*Lindevoll’s Kittsi moved in, and one year later Karlos the Somali cat. Karlos stayed with us for 7 ½ years, then he unfortunately got FIP and died. 6 months after Karlos moved in, I got my first breeding cat, Kaizer (SC (N) Mystic Wood’s Eternal Flame), in 2007.
My cattery name (N) Ladejarlen was registered in NRR/FIFe in 2008. I wanted a name with a historical significance, and the name came naturally because I live in Lade in Trondheim. In the Viking era, before Christianity arrived, the Lade earls (jarl =earl) ruled this area of Norway. There are lots of stories and legends about them. The last earl was killed in the year 995.
We had our first litter in 2010. I am lucky to have my best friend Harriet working with me in my breeding, so a few of our breeding cats have lived and live in her house.
I want to say a big thank you to all the breeders who have trusted me and still trust me with their cats through my more than ten years of breeding. I am so grateful to all of you and couldn’t have done this without you.
